Discount configuration settings are now available to Admin users

Admin users can now create their own discounts in NOPS. Here’s how it works:

By navigating to Setup/Discounts, admin users will find a green “New Discount” button. The “New Discount” button dropdown provides the option of creating three different types of discounts: New Order Discount, Item Discount or Spend Amount Discount. Read on for an explanation of each of the discounts and their options.

IMPORTANT: The information below describes each option available in creating a discount. Note that if you opt NOT to use a “Promotion Code” (see below), visitors to your site will automatically receive the discount without having to enter any code.

Order Discount

Selecting the “Order Discount” option will allow an admin user to create a new discount for customers based on their total order on your website--allowing you to give your customers a dollar amount or percentage amount off of their order.

The “Info” tab of the “New Order Discount” is where you can set the details of your discount including the name of the discount, priority, amount, promo code and more. Below is a description of each field.

Name: This is where you can provide a name for your discount. For example: Black Friday Deal, November Special, etc.

Priority: The Priority field allows you to determine which discounts should be applied first. For example, if you have multiple discount options, and you allow customers to apply multiple discounts to an order, the priority level determines which discount will be taken first. A priority level of zero [0] is the top priority. For example, if you have the following discounts:

Black Friday Deal = $10 off your order November Special = 30% off your order

And you set Black Friday Deal to priority zero [0] and November Special to priority [1], Nomad will first apply the $10 Black Friday Deal and then the 30% November Special off of the remaining order amount.

Amount: This is where you enter the amount of the discount. The dropdown menu allows you to set your discount as either a dollar amount discount or a percentage discount.

Free Shipping: If you wish to provide free shipping on an order, you can check the “Free Shipping” box. Nomad will offer the least expensive shipping method in this case. For example, if Ground Shipping is your least expensive shipping option, checking the “Free Shipping” box will provide your customer with the option for free Ground Shipping.

Enabled: Checking the “Enabled” box activates your order discount. If an Order Discount’s “Enabled” box is unchecked, this discount will remain inactive until the box is checked and saved by hitting the “Save” button at the bottom of the discount screen.

Promotion Code: The “Promotion Code” is the code that your customer enters at the time of checkout in order to receive the discount. If you add a “Promotion Code” to the discount, the customer must enter this code in order to receive the discount. Note: If you do not enter a “Promotion Code”, customers will automatically receive the discount without having to enter any code.

Customer Limit: The “Customer Limit” field allows you to enter the number of times that a single customer can use this discount. Note that a “customer” and a “user” are two separate entities. A “customer” can be a set of users. For example: You set your “Customer Limit” to three [3]. Your customer, Cat Toy Supply, Inc., has five Nomad users. These five users can collectively only use the discount three times. One user can use the discount three times; three users can each use the discount one time; or any combination thereof. Once that particular “Customer” or company uses the discount three times, no matter which user, Cat Toy Supply will have reached its “Customer Limit.” If a “Customer Limit” or “Total Limit” (see below) are in use, guest customers will not be able to use the discount. One way to alert guest customers to this is to include a link to login or register in the discount “Validation Message” (see below).

Total Limit: The “Total Limit” field allows you to indicate how many times you want the discount to be used across your entire customer or user base. For example, if you set your “Total Limit” to ten [10], the discount will only be applied to ten orders, no matter who uses it. Cat Toy Supply may use it five times, Cat Emporium may use it four times and Kittens Etc. may use it once--or any combination among your customers and/or users that equals ten discounts.

Minimum Purchase: This allows you to indicate a minimum spend amount that a customer must have in the shopping cart in order to receive the discount. For example: the hypothetical November Special discount provides 30% off of an order. If you indicate a “Minimum Purchase” of $50, the discount will only be applied to an order of $50 or more.

Maximum Purchase: This allows you to indicate a maximum spend threshold that if surpassed, the discount will not be applied. For example: the hypothetical November Special discount provides 30% off of an order. If you indicate a “Maximum Purchase” of $1,000, the discount will only be applied to an order of $1,000 or less.

Start Date: This allows you to set the date that your discount will begin. The discount begins at 12:00am on the start date.

End Date: This allows you to set the date that your discount will end. Note: the last possible minute that a user can redeem the discount is 11:59pm on the night before the “End Date.” For example, if you want your discount to end after 11:59pm on Friday, November 27, your chosen “End Date” will be Saturday, November 28.

Validation Message: The “Validation Message” field allows you to add an “error” message that displays when a Promotion Code is applied to the order, but the discount requirements are not met. For example, if the discount is for $10 off a purchase of $50 or more, and the customer has less than $50 in the cart but tries to apply the Promotion Code, the validation message will display. The “Validation Message” will only appear if a Promotion Code is required and used. If no “Promotion Code” is required, the “Validation Message” will not appear.
